Welcome
The Lamar County School District Office of Special Services is pleased to welcome you to our web page.  We are excited about the upcoming school year and all of the possibilities that it has for us as a department and as a district.
We would like to take this time to provide some vital information about our department.  We serve all children who have been identified as having an educational disability as defined by the 13 disability categories.  These categories are:  Autism, Deaf-Blind, Developmentally Delayed, Emotional Disability, Hearing Impairment, Language /Speech Impairment, Mental Retardation, Multiple Disabilities, Orthopedic Impairment, Other Health Impairment, Specific Learning Disability, Traumatic Brain Injury, and Visually Impaired.  The Lamar County District Evaluation/Eligibility Team (DEET) works closely with each school to determine eligibility and placement for each child identified as having a disability.
Various placement options are considered after determining eligibility based on student needs. Program options include inclusive and resource programs, as well as pre-k developmentally delayed and infant/toddler programs.
